Our Causes
Meet Our Founder
Fanta Kaba, the founder of ACIS – All Children in School is a believer that all children should have the opportunity to be in school. She had always had the idea of running her charity for years but she made the decision to start through an experience she had.
In 2016, Fanta visited her grandmother’s village in Mali Yembering – that was the first time she encountered poverty. She was born and raised in Africa, although she was ignorant of the levels of poverty. While she was there, she visited schools and she was shocked to see children and families that were so poor that their lives and futures had completely changed direction; due to a lack of basic needs that we take for granted such as food, clean water, pens, books, tables, and chairs. She decided that she wanted to help them.
After she came back to London, she was traumatized for two weeks. She was truly affected. She would usually buy her Taiwanese cold tea which costs £4.50 after work in Central London, but not anymore! She couldn’t stop thinking that money could help someone in a village.
Her wake-up call came in August 2017 when she managed a simulation project in her third year of her BSc in Business Management degree. As a group, they were required to build electronic dams in Central Laos, Asia on the Nam Kading River. That experience changed Fanta!
The shareholders and investors were involved in the project and all they strove for was maximum profit. No matter what they did as Project Managers, ultimately, the only things they were stressing about were profits by any means possible. It was then that she realized that she would not want to work for any organization that was solely focused on profit margins with a total disregard for people’s values, cultures, and future. This was when she made the decision to turn her idea into action.
